Grief and Loss in Nursing
with Mora Judd, RN, BSN, MMC Provider Well-Being & Peer Support Program
Free
Grieving happens in situations that society doesn’t always recognize as losses, leaving nurses disenfranchised from their feelings and the support they need. Common examples include losing a patient, experiencing a patient's loss along with them, frequent turnover of coworkers, changes in leadership, losing or starting a job, losing a pet, the end of a friendship, divorce, moving, estranged relationships, infertility, peri/menopause, etc.
Grief is a normal reaction to some of our daily experiences as nurses and to life’s big changes. Frequent exposure to these losses can accumulate over time, turning into various forms of grief such as disenfranchised grief, secondary grief and compounded grief. This session will review these forms of grief and healthy coping skills to process the grief that occurs with these kinds of losses. As a group, we will provide peer support for understanding and processing our unique experiences with grief as nurses.
For this group to be successful, participants must make the commitment to attend all 4 weeks and have access to Microsoft Teams on your professional/personal computer which has a camera. If you need IT support, we can help! Space is limited to 6-12 participants.
